⚡ Zekai Challenge · Energy & Sustainability Edition

From zero to AI master.
30 days. 5 minutes a day.

The fastest way to produce an unsubstantiated environmental claim is to ask a model to write your sustainability copy. From 27 September 2026 that stops being a reputational risk and becomes an unfair commercial practice. One 5-minute drill a day on using AI for the measurement — never the claim.

The Evidence

0%

of environmental claims examined by EU regulators were vague, misleading or unfounded.

Enforcement authorities across 27 countries assessed 344 sustainability claims aimed at consumers. Just over half could not stand up as written.

The Gap

0%

were unsubstantiated altogether.

Not exaggerated — unsupported by anything at all. That finding is the evidence base the new European rules were built on, and it is why generic wording is no longer treated as harmless.

The Deadline

0 September 2026

Generic green claims become an unfair commercial practice across the EU.

Directive (EU) 2024/825 prohibits unsubstantiated generic environmental claims, requires verifiable implementation plans behind any future-facing claim, and demands that sustainability labels be certified. The fastest way to breach it is to ask a model to write your copy.

The plan is simple.

No course platform. No 6-hour videos. A daily drill you run in any AI assistant — built around real consumption data and real evidence, and around the rule that keeps a model away from your claims.

Questions before you start

Is this really free?
Yes. Zekai is an independent AI tools directory — the challenge is how we introduce people to the tools we test. Some tool pages contain affiliate links; the challenge itself costs nothing and requires no purchase.
Can I use AI to write our sustainability copy?
Not to write the claim, no — and day 6 is built entirely around why. A language model will produce fluent, confident environmental claims with no idea whether anything behind them is true, which is the fastest way in the world to create an unsubstantiated claim. It can help you describe what you have measured, structure a document, and tell you what evidence a claim would require. The wording comes after the evidence, never before it.
What actually changes on 27 September 2026?
Directive (EU) 2024/825 starts to apply, amending the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive. Generic environmental claims — wording like eco-friendly, climate neutral or biodegradable — become prohibited unless substantiated by recognised, relevant environmental performance. Claims about future performance need clear, verifiable commitments with measurable targets and independent verification, and sustainability labels must be certified or issued by public bodies. Day 15 has you audit your own live claims against the evidence you actually hold.
Is this only relevant if we sell in the EU?
The deadline is European, but the direction is not. Regulators across several jurisdictions have moved the same way, and the underlying discipline — evidence before wording, method disclosed, precision matching confidence — is what makes any claim defensible anywhere. If you do sell into the EU, day 15 is urgent rather than useful.
I do energy management, not carbon reporting. Is this for me?
Yes. Week 2 is largely operational — reading interval data, finding always-on load, designing measurement and verification before a retrofit rather than after, and characterising which loads can actually shift. Those drills stand on their own whether or not you ever touch a disclosure.
Why can’t I see all 30 drills at once?
Because binge-reading builds nothing. The challenge unlocks one drill per day from the day you sign — the way any skill gets built: daily reps. Day 1 is open right now so you can try it before committing.
Do I need any AI experience?
Zero. Day 1 assumes you have never written a deliberate prompt. By day 13 you will be designing measurement and verification before an installation, which is the difference between a saving you can prove and one you merely claim.
What if I miss a day?
Life happens, and so does a reporting deadline. The challenge is sequential, not strict-daily. Pick up where you left off; the certificate cares that you finish all 30, not that you were perfect.
I work in a different profession. Is there a challenge for that?
