🫂 Zekai Challenge · Therapy & Mental Health Edition

From zero to AI master.
30 days. 5 minutes a day.

AI will never sit in the chair. What it can do is take the documentation off your evening, so that more of your attention is in the room. One 5-minute drill a day on the work around the session — and a clear line it never crosses.

Free forever · No app to install · Built on the Zekai Audit of 1,900+ tested AI tools

The Regulator

0

generative-AI devices authorised by the FDA for any clinical purpose.

Not one, for any condition. In November 2025 the FDA’s Digital Health Advisory Committee met specifically on generative-AI mental health devices; a breakthrough designation granted in March 2026 expedites a review, it does not authorise anything. Whatever a product claims, no regulator has yet agreed it can treat.

The Legislators

0

US states legislated on AI in mental health care within a single year — and more have followed.

Illinois and Nevada prohibited AI from delivering therapy or claiming it can. Utah took a different route and required a mental-health chatbot to disclose that it is AI at first contact, on return, and whenever asked. The direction of travel is one way.

The Line, In Statute

0

dollars per violation in Illinois — and the same law says exactly what AI may do.

It may handle scheduling and billing, and — with the client’s written consent — prepare and maintain notes and records, run ambient documentation, analyse anonymised data and identify referrals. What it may not do is make a therapeutic decision, generate a treatment plan without licensed review, or communicate with a client in a therapeutic role. That division is day 6.

The plan is simple.

No course platform. No 6-hour videos. A daily drill you run in any AI assistant — built around your own notes, your own caseload and your own practice, and around the principle that the relationship stays entirely human.

Your 30 days. Every one of them, mapped.

Four weeks, four escalations: foundations → the work → the practice → the clinician. Day 1 is open right now — try it. The rest unlock one per day after you sign the challenge, because mastery is built on daily reps, not binge-reading.

Day 30 has a trophy.

Finish the challenge and earn the Zekai Certificate of Completion — proof you didn’t just read about AI, you practised it for a month. Type your name. Go on.

Certificate of completion of an educational challenge — not a professional certification and not issued by any industry body. But it looks good on LinkedIn.

Questions before you start

Is this really free?
Yes. Zekai is an independent AI tools directory — the challenge is how we introduce people to the tools we test. Some tool pages contain affiliate links; the challenge itself costs nothing and requires no purchase.
Will this replace therapists?
No, and in a growing number of places it is now illegal for it to try. The therapeutic relationship is the treatment, and nothing that has never been in a room with a person can hold one. What this challenge does is take the documentation, the letters, the billing justifications and the admin off your evening, so that more of your attention is available for the part that actually helps. Every drill sits deliberately behind the relationship, never inside it.
What is the clinical line?
Installed on day 6, and every other drill in the month sits on one side of it. AI never occupies the therapeutic relationship. It works behind it — the notes, the scheduling, the billing, the paperwork, your own preparation and reflection. The clinical decision, the treatment plan and the words that reach a client stay with a licensed human clinician. That is increasingly the law and not only an ethic: Illinois prohibits AI from making independent therapeutic decisions, generating treatment plans without licensed review, or communicating with a client in a therapeutic role; Nevada prohibits AI from providing professional mental or behavioural healthcare; Utah requires a mental-health chatbot to disclose that it is AI.
Is it safe to put client information into these tools?
Not into a general chat tool, no. Day 2 is entirely about this and it comes before almost everything else for a reason. Client material is the most sensitive category of personal data there is, and what you paste into a consumer tool sits outside the safeguards your practice has built. Purpose-built clinical documentation tools operate under agreements written for health data; general assistants generally do not. Where AI touches documentation, several jurisdictions now require the client’s documented consent as a condition, not a courtesy. Most drills in this challenge are written to work on de-identified or clinician-side material for exactly this reason.
A client asked me whether I use AI. What do I say?
The truth, in plain words, and day 7 is a rehearsal for exactly that conversation. Tell them what you use, what it does, what happens to the recording or the text, who can see it, how long it is kept, and that they can decline without any effect on their care. If declining is not genuinely easy, it was never consent. It is also worth staying curious rather than defensive: for some clients the question is administrative, and for others it touches something about being recorded, watched or handled — which is clinical material, not an obstacle.
Why can’t I see all 30 drills at once?
Because binge-reading builds nothing. The challenge unlocks one drill per day from the day you sign — the way any skill gets built: daily reps. Day 1 is open right now so you can try it before committing.
Do I need any AI experience?
Zero. Day 1 assumes you have never written a deliberate prompt. By day 6 you will have a written statement of how AI is used in your practice that you could hand to a client or a regulator.
What if I miss a day?
Life happens, and so does an unplanned stop. The challenge is sequential, not strict-daily. Pick up where you left off; the certificate cares that you finish all 30, not that you were perfect.
I work in a different profession. Is there a challenge for that?
Every edition is built the same way, for a different desk — you can see all of them on the challenge hub, and new professions are added regularly. If yours is not there yet, sign up and we’ll tell you the day it launches.
